While on this journey, Michael was introduced to various modalities of treatment such as, "The Needs Based Method"™ Trade Marked by The Final Step, Inc., is used for wellness programs, Mental health and Addiction treatment services which consist of understanding how not getting specific social/emotional needs met affects an individual behavior.
In addition to the “Needs Based Method” our program implements Non-violent Communication (NVC) which is a powerful communication tool that is used to both reduce internal and external conflict by the use of language as well as provide support to reframe beliefs/thoughts that are not serving the participant. A second modality that is applied is the Hermann Brain Dominance Model (HBDI) which assesses learning, communication and thinking styles of participants. This tool provides participants an insight to their thinking frustrations and how to leverage their strengths. It also brings to light various conflicts they have had in the past with caregivers, adult peers and relationships and allows them to gain understanding and awareness about how to act in a positive way and appreciate these differences. The third modality is the use of “Mythology and Archetypes” as a foundation for understanding how to engage change and progress in one’s life. The participant will be aligned with the hero of the story in such a way that the story itself will reflect the journey of the participant.
Michael is expanding his area of expertise into the areas of Domestic Violence, Victims of Sex Crimes, Family Relations, Parenting, Anger Management, Grief and Loss Substance Dependency, Care giving support and Process Groups.
Other theoretical approaches that are used are as follows: Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy; Eclectic Therapy and Existential Therapy.
These applications will be applied during the sessions when necessary which will bring to light the behavior and decision making process of the participant.
